Geoexchange systems
Terasen Energy Services' geoexchange projects
Terasen Energy Services builds, owns, and operates geoexchange systems for multi-residential, commercial, and industrial developments. We work with qualified experts to prepare detailed designs that meet the project requirements. If your system is already underway, we can purchase the system subject to standard due diligence.
Terasen Energy Services owned & operated
Our ownership extends from the pipes in the ground to the central mechanical equipment.
Because we invest in the geoexchange infrastructure, we alleviate the large capital investment that the developer would otherwise incur.
Terasen Energy Services ownership eliminates operational risk for both developer and end user as we operate the system to utility standards.
Clean, green and cost effective
Having a geoexchange system installed enhances the profile of a project and reduces its carbon footprint.

Geoexchange systems are highly efficient. With a Coefficient of Performance (CoP) of 3 to 4, a geoexchange system produces 3 to 4 kilowatts of heat for every kilowatt of power provided to run the heat pumps. This translates to reductions of energy usage of up to 75%.
Geoexchange high efficiency results in lower emissions. For example, a 1000 square foot space offsets up to 1 tonne of greenhouse gases a year – a big boost for the environment!
Efficiency and lower emissions are only the beginning. Terasen Energy Services’ stable operating and maintenance rates also provide the strata or building owner a degree of insulation from energy price volatility.

In their words
“By working with Terasen Energy Services to include a geoexchange system in the Flatiron development project, we are able to provide a product that sets us apart from other developers – this is critical in today’s market,” said Andrew Wade, Project Manager for Cathedral Ventures Ltd. “By utilizing Terasen Energy Services’ alternative energy solutions in our project, we can deliver what today’s buyers want: sustainable and reliable energy for heat, hot water and cooling that is also cost-effective.”
“Home buyers are asking us more questions about environmental sustainability,” says Woodburn Management’s Peter Daniel, developer of Aquattro. “With a geothermal system like Aquattro’s, they know they can enjoy the comfort of a luxury home with a lighter carbon footprint and a smaller heating bill.”
